There’s an old adage that says reputation is earned on foot and rides out on horseback. A recent example of this happened in The Netherlands in 2018 when the Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Halbe Zijlstra was caught in a big lie. He had been saying all along that he had attended a meeting in Putin’s dacha in Russia where Putin talked about his plans for a greater Russia. The Dutch and international press had a field day with this story.
